Is a gastric balloon right for me? Does it need to be removed afterward?
<p dir="ltr">Hello. I’m a 37-year-old woman, 168 cm tall and 64 kg. My weight varies every week. If I pay attention to what I eat for a few weeks, I’ll go down to 62 kg but if I don’t, I’ll be 64-65 kg in a week. If I do a strict diet I can go down to 60 kg at best, but I regain weight rapidly. I think my ideal weight is 58 kg. Would you recommend a gastric balloon for this? And how long does it take to be removed? Gastric Botox does not work for people of my weight. That treatment makes you lose 3 or 4 kg, whereas I want to lose 6-7 kg. Any suggestions?</p>

The intragastric balloon, also known as gastric balloon surgery, is a non-surgical procedure that restricts the space inside the stomach using a saline-filled balloon. The procedure is performed as a weight-loss treatment for the individuals who have a body mass index (BMI) of between 27 and 40.

All Obalon balloons will be removed six months after the first balloon is placed. All three balloons are removed by an endoscopic procedure, under light, conscious sedation which takes approximately 15 minutes. Obalon Gastric balloon results shows that the individual may lost on average 15 pounds to 50 pounds when they stick in to a diet and exercise program.
The first part of the program which lasts six months, starts with the balloon placement. The individual will be under sedation during the procedure. It takes approximately 20 minutes for the doctor to push the deflated balloon down through the throat to stomach and to inflate the balloon with saline solution.
Approximately 10 minutes after, your doctor will monitor whether the capsule introduced into the stomach and by the help of the thin tube your doctor will inflate the balloon with sterile saline (saltwater).
